The Training & Development Department at Marrakech, Inc. offers trainings designed for the human service field to employers, schools and education centers who wish to provide such trainings to their employees and students. Marrakech, Inc. will also customize the trainings offered based on particular needs.
ABUSE & NEGLECT PREVENTION/HUMAN RIGHTS- On Site or Off Site 1.5 hours
SYNOPSIS OF PROGRAM: The following will be reviewed: Definitions of Abuse & Neglect, What else may be considered Abuse & Neglect, Mistreatment, Seclusion, Levels of Supervision, Staff Responsibility to maintain Level of Supervision, Abuse & Neglect Policy, What to do if Abuse & Neglect is witnessed or suspected, Contact Numbers for Reporting, Investigative process, Confidentiality, DDS Registry List, Human Rights, Human Rights Committee & program Review Committee.
ACTIVE TREATMENT/PLANNING & PROVISION OF SERVICES On Site or Off Site 1 hour
SYNOPSIS OF PROGRAM: The following areas will be addressed: Incidental teaching aspect of active treatment including providing continuous learning opportunities, giving people choice in daily living (planned and incidentally), verbal cues vs. verbal directions, community activities and leisure activity. Also parallel speech techniques and techniques to fade verbal directions will be addressed. Hand in pocket theory and least intrusive prompts will be discussed as well. Marrakech’s program planning process will be reviewed, concentrating on the IP plan design. Initial plan development including the assessment process, prioritizing programs and services and progress review will be discussed. Team process is stressed. A general list of 10 important outcomes to programming will be reviewed. Writing about people in an objective manner is an important component of the planning process. All participants will receive handouts.
AMERICAN RED CROSS CPR &/OR FIRST AID COURSE CLASSES On Site or Off Site
The primary purpose of the American Red Cross First Aid/CPR program is to help participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies. The courses in this program teach participants the knowledge and skills needed to give immediate care to an injured or ill person and to decide whether advanced medical care is needed.
CULTURE MATTERS- On Site or Off Site 2 hours
SYNOPSIS OF PROGRAM: Introduction to the concepts of Cultural Competence. Establishes Diversity as a necessary step toward Cultural Competence and emphasizes individual commitment to the principles and process of Cultural Competence.
CUSTOMER SERVICE- On Site or Off Site 1 hour
SYNOPSIS OF PROGRAM: Participants will learn how to determine their customers’ expectations and exceed them. The following will be reviewed: Platinum Rule, definition of culture, who are our customers, requirements for customer service, satisfaction surveys and communication styles.
HIPAA On Site or Off Site 1.5 hours
SYNOPSIS OF PROGRAM: Overview of HIPAA Privacy Rule and security for ePHI, Examples of Protected Health Information (PHI), Notice of Privacy Practices for our individual's/legal representatives, individuals right regarding PHI, Physical Security in the protection of PHI, Safeguarding of PHI, Safeguarding of PHI during transmission and communication, Requesting and responding to a request for PHI, Verification of identity and authority of person requesting PHI, Minimum necessary: Workforce Access to PHI, Disclosures of PHI, Disclosures of PHI to personal representatives of individuals. Use and disclosure requiring an opportunity for the individual to agree or to object, complaints regarding PHI, exceptions allowing uses and disclosers of PHI, use and disclosure of PHI when individual authorization is required, designated record set/retention and destruction of the designated record set, staff training regarding protected health information, uses and disclosure of PHI for marketing/fundraising, business associate agreements.
HUMAN SEXUALITY- On Site or Off Site 1 hour
SYNOPSIS OF PROGRAM:Definition of sexuality, why teach people with disabilities about sexuality, Challenges and myths regarding sexuality for individuals with disabilities, Stockholm syndrome and consent, sexual abuse – signs, who to report to, what steps to take.
INTRODUCTION TO PERSON CENTERED- Off Site 3 hours
SYNOPSIS OF PROGRAM:We will complete exercises that demonstrate person centered thinking skills. These skill show the students that the person supported is at the focus of everything we do. The students will learn that the balance between Important To and Important For is the core concept of person centered thinking. They will leave the class with their own one page description as a tool to assist them in remaining person centered.
PROFESSIONAL BOUNDARIES- On Site or Off Site 1 hour
SYNOPSIS OF PROGRAM:This in-service will teach participants to think and look at how their actions, words, dress and personal habits may affect the individuals we serve. It will define physical and emotional boundaries.
SEXUAL HARASSMENT PREVENTION On Site or Off Site 2 hours
SYNOPSIS OF PROGRAM: This course contains two hours of training on sexual harassment and maintaining a productive work environment. This includes an overview of sexual harassment laws and other illegal harassment. Training includes definitions, examples and special issues related to sexual harassment. This interactive training also includes small group discussion, handouts and lecture. Participants will receive information that is relevant to their jobs including specific agency related policies, practices and culture. Recognizing and reporting suspected harassment is reviewed in detail although prevention is a main focus as well.
