Ticket To Work

Long-Term Job Placement, Supports, and Advancement Assistance

This program assists SSI/SSDI beneficiaries who are Ticket holders to enter or re-enter the workplace with assistance at no cost to them. Examples of services include but are not limited to; skill & interest surveys, resume preparation, interview skills training, job search, job placement, benefits counseling, job coaching, or other ongoing services. Upon intake, Marrakech's Vocational Rehabilitation staff will work with the Ticket holder to design an individual Work Plan detailing the actions to be taken to assist the individual with meeting his or her vocational goals.

Benefits of Participating in the Ticket to Work Program:

  • Design a plan to earn more income
  • Gain More Independence
  • Learn new skills
  • Meet new people
  • Waive a medical review while the ticket is in use

The Ticket to Work Program is a voluntary program and the Ticket holder is fully in charge of his or her plan, the actions to be taken, and the vocational goals set. The ultimate goal of the program is for the Ticket holder to build a career and earn enough money that he or she will no longer require the SSI/SSDI payment previously relied upon. Ticket holders should be aware that advancing in the workforce and increasing wages earned will result in the eventual discontinuation of their benefit payments.

Staff providing job support completes all of Marrakech's core in-service training, including CPR and First Aid. In addition, the staff is required to attend Job Coaching in-service and other external training as appropriate. Employment Specialists are experienced vocational staff with demonstrated success in meeting employment program outcomes.

Ticket to Work staff are part of the overall Vocational Rehabilitation team at Marrakech and has offices located in New Haven, Middletown, Waterbury, Torrington, and Bridgeport, Connecticut. However, services may be provided statewide.

Eligibility: People must have a ticket issued by the Social Security Administration under the Ticket to Work and Self-Sufficiency Program.
